Specialist physicians utilise specialised testing, diagnostic procedures, and medical techniques to diagnose and treat internal disorders and diseases in human patients. Medical Registrars training as Specialist Physicians are included in this unit group.

Occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification, two years hospital-based training, and at least five years specialist study and training (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

 

Registration or licensing is a mandatory requirement for this position.

 

Estimate salary aud$180,000 up to aud$280,000 per year.

 

Tasks Include:

 

  • Conducting thorough examinations of patients referred by General Medical Practitioners and other specialists, to determine the nature and scope of their health issues.
  • Carrying out laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures to gather relevant information for accurate diagnoses.
  • Analysing test results and other medical data to formulate diagnoses.
  • Prescribing and administering appropriate medications, as well as providing remedial and therapeutic treatments and procedures.
  • Documenting medical information and maintaining comprehensive records.
  • Reporting specific contagious and notifiable diseases to relevant government health and immigration authorities.
  • Making decisions to admit patients to hospitals or refer them to appropriate healthcare facilities.

Consulting with other medical specialists as needed to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes
