Tasks Include:

 

  • Receive prescriptions, review patients’ medication histories, and verify optimal dosage, administration methods, and drug compatibility before dispensing medications.
    • Prepare or supervise the preparation and labelling of various medications, such as liquid medicines, ointments, powders, and tablets, to fulfill prescription orders accurately.
    • Advise prescribers on drug incompatibilities, contraindications, and alternative treatment options to ensure patient safety and optimize therapeutic outcomes.
    • Review and monitor the medication therapy of individual patients, assessing its effectiveness and making necessary adjustments as required.
    • Maintain prescription files, record the dispensing of narcotics, poisons, and habit-forming drugs, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Properly store and preserve vaccines, serums, and other drugs susceptible to deterioration to maintain their efficacy and safety.
    • Supply non-prescription medicines, diagnostic tools, and therapeutic aids, providing expert advice and recommendations to patients.
    • Supervise and coordinate the work of Pharmacy Technicians, pharmacy interns, and Pharmacy Sales Assistants, ensuring the smooth operation of the pharmacy.
    • Conduct research to develop and improve pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and related chemical products, collaborating with Chemists, Engineering Professionals, and other experts.
    • Test and analyse drugs to determine their identity, purity, and strength, comparing them against specified standards to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of standards for drugs used in pharmaceuticals, promoting safe and effective medication practices.
