Nursing Support and Personal Care Workers offer assistance, support, and direct care to patients across a range of health, welfare, and community settings. Their responsibilities encompass providing necessary support and care to individuals in need.
Indicative Skill Level:
Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with the qualifications and experience outlined below.
In Australia:
AQF Certificate II or III, or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
In New Zealand:
NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification, or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
Note: some roles within this unit group are at ANZSCO Skill Level 3. Registration or licensing is mandatory for this role.
Estimate salary aud$65,000 up to aud$120,000 per year.
Tasks Include:
- Assisting patients with their personal care needs, such as showering, dressing, and eating.
- Supporting patients with mobility and communication requirements, ensuring they are comfortable and have their needs met.
- Participating in the planning of individualized care plans for patients, collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
- Following therapy plans, including interventions designed to assist patients with dementia and behavioural issues.
- Observing and reporting any changes in patients’ condition, as well as addressing any complaints about care.
- Assisting with rehabilitation exercises, basic treatment procedures, and administering medications as directed.
- Providing direct support and assistance to therapists during therapy sessions.
