Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC)
The Manufacturing Division comprises units primarily involved in the physical or chemical transformation of materials, substances, or components into new products, excluding agriculture and construction. The raw materials utilised by these units are sourced from agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, or other manufacturing units. Typically referred to as plants, factories, or mills, units within the Manufacturing Division employ power-driven machines and other materials-handling equipment. However, this classification also encompasses units that manually transform materials, substances, or components into new products within their own premises. Additionally, activities incidental to the manufacturing process, such as direct selling of products to consumers from the same premises where they are manufactured (e.g., bakeries and custom tailors), are also included in this division.
