The position involves providing nursing care to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a range of health, welfare and community settings. Registration or licensing is a mandatory requirement for this position.

Your responsibilities include:
- Assessing the physical, mental, and emotional needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and creating individualized care plans.
- Administering medications, treatments, and therapies as prescribed, and monitoring the response and effectiveness of these interventions.
- Assisting individuals with daily activities such as personal hygiene, feeding, mobility, and medication management.
- Monitoring and managing any medical conditions or health issues that may be present in individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including psychologists, therapists, and social workers, to provide comprehensive care and support.
- Providing health education and counselling to individuals and their families or caregivers regarding their specific conditions, treatment plans, and overall well-being.
- Advocating for the rights and needs of individuals with developmental disabilities and ensuring they receive appropriate and equitable healthcare services.
- Supporting individuals in developing life skills, promoting independence, and maximizing their potential for self-care and community integration.
- Assisting in the coordination and implementation of therapeutic programs and activities designed to enhance the overall quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Monitoring and documenting the progress, changes, and outcomes of nursing interventions and treatments.
- Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities, addressing any potential risks or challenges that may arise.
