Orthotists and Prosthetists are specialised healthcare professionals who assess, design, and provide orthotic and prosthetic devices to individuals with musculoskeletal conditions or limb loss. They work closely with patients, healthcare teams, and other professionals to ensure the optimal fit, function, and comfort of these devices. Registration or licensing is a mandatory requirement for this position.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assessing patients’ needs and functional requirements for orthotic or prosthetic devices.
  • Designing and fabricating custom-made orthoses (braces) or prostheses (artificial limbs) to meet individual specifications.
  • Taking measurements, creating moulds, and using advanced technology to develop precise devices.
  • Fitting, adjusting, and aligning orthotic or prosthetic devices to ensure proper function and comfort.
  • Providing ongoing care, maintenance, and repairs for orthoses and prostheses.
  • Collaborating with physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans.
  • Educating patients on device use, maintenance, and rehabilitation techniques.
  • Conducting research and staying updated on advancements in orthotics, prosthetics, and related technologies.
