Your key responsibilities can include:

  • Structural Analysis: Analysing the static and dynamic properties of structures to determine their strength, stability, and performance. Uses advanced computer software and mathematical models to evaluate the structural behaviour under various loads and environmental conditions.
  • Material Testing and Selection: Testing construction materials to assess their properties and performance. Conducts laboratory tests and field inspections to evaluate the strength, durability, and suitability of materials such as concrete, steel, timber, and masonry. Select appropriate materials based on their findings and in accordance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Structural Design: Designing structures that can withstand anticipated loads and environmental factors. Develops detailed designs, calculations, and drawings, considering factors such as structural integrity, stability, aesthetics, and sustainability. Ensure compliance with applicable building codes and regulations.
  • Construction Supervision: Supervising the construction process to ensure adherence to the approved structural designs and specifications. Collaborates with construction teams, reviews construction drawings, and provides technical guidance during the construction phase. Conduct site inspections to verify that the construction activities are in compliance with design requirements.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Assessing potential risks associated with structural integrity and proposing mitigation measures. Identifies potential hazards and evaluates the impact of natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, or wind loads. Develop strategies to minimise risks and enhance the resilience of structures.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with architects, contractors, and other professionals to integrate structural considerations into overall project design. Communicates design requirements, specifications, and recommendations effectively to stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding. Provide technical advice and support throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Structural Inspections and Maintenance: Conducting structural inspections and assessments to ensure ongoing safety and integrity. Performs regular inspections, evaluates the condition of structures, and identifies any signs of deterioration or damage. Recommend maintenance and repair measures to extend the lifespan and maintain the structural performance of buildings and infrastructure.
