Aged and Disabled Carers offer a range of support services to elderly and disabled individuals within their own homes. These services include general household assistance, emotional support, personal care, and companionship. The skill level required for most positions in this unit group aligns with the qualifications and experience described below.

In Australia: AQF Certificate II or III, or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)

In New Zealand: NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification, or at least one year of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)

In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification. Note: some roles within this unit group are at ANZSCO Skill Level 3.

Estimate salary aud$55,000 up to aud$120,000 per year.

Tasks Include:

• Accompanying aged and disabled persons during daily activities.
• Assisting clients with their mobility, such as helping them with walking or using assistive devices.
• Preparing meals and ensuring clients’ nutritional needs are met.
• Organizing and facilitating social activities to promote engagement and socialization.
• Conducting housekeeping duties, including vacuuming, cleaning, and maintaining a clean living environment.
• Assisting clients with personal hygiene tasks and dressing.
• Providing companionship, friendship, and emotional support to alleviate feelings of loneliness or isolation.
• Assisting with shopping and running errands on behalf of the clients.
• In some cases, living with the person to provide around-the-clock care and support.
