Enrolled and Mothercraft Nurses are responsible for providing nursing care to patients in hospitals, aged care facilities, other healthcare facilities, and within the community. They also assist parents in caring for newborn infants under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Midwife.

 

Indicative Skill Level:

Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with the qualifications and experience outlined below.

 

In Australia:

AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)

 

In New Zealand:

NZQF Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)

At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

Registration or licensing is mandatory for this role.

 

Estimate salary aud$55,000 up to aud$75,000 per year.

 

Tasks Include:

 

  • Assessing, planning, and implementing nursing care for patients in accordance with established nursing practice and standards.
  • Administering medications, providing interventions, treatments, and therapies, and closely monitoring patients’ responses to these interventions and care plans.
  • Assisting Registered Nurses and other team members in coordinating and evaluating the care provided to patients.
  • Promoting and actively participating in health education activities aimed at preventing illnesses and promoting overall well-being.
  • Engaging in tasks related to newborn care, such as bathing, feeding, changing, and comforting infants.
  • Offering guidance and training to parents on various aspects of infant care.
  • Providing emotional support to parents of newborn infants, understanding and addressing their needs during this critical time.
  • Enrolled and Mothercraft Nurses play a vital role in delivering high-quality nursing care, ensuring the well-being of patients and supporting new parents in the care of their newborn infants.
  • Enrolled and Mothercraft Nurses play a crucial role in providing essential nursing care and guidance to both patients and their families, particularly in the early stages of infancy and postpartum care.
