Computer network professionals engage in researching, analysing, and proposing strategies to enhance network architecture and development. They undertake tasks such as implementing, managing, maintaining, and configuring network hardware and software. Additionally, they diligently monitor and optimize network performance while troubleshooting issues and offering user support when needed.

The majority of occupations within this unit group typically require a skill level equivalent to a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification. It is possible to substitute a formal qualification with at least five years of relevant experience and/or vendor certification. Additionally, a formal qualification may be required in addition to relevant experience and/or on-the-job training. (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).

 

Estimate salary aud$70,000 up to aud$180,000 per year.

 

Tasks Include:

  • Analysing, developing, interpreting, and evaluating intricate system design and architecture specifications, data models, and diagrams during the development, configuration, and integration of computer systems.
  • Conducting research, analysis, evaluation, and monitoring of network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and configuration of networks.
  • Assessing and recommending improvements for network operations, including integrated hardware, software, communications, and operating systems.
  • Providing specialized skills in supporting and troubleshooting network problems and emergencies.
  • Installing, configuring, testing, maintaining, and administering new and upgraded networks, software, database applications, servers, and workstations.
  • Offering network programming expertise to support specific business needs and requirements.
  • Creating and maintaining procedures and documentation for network inventory, and documenting diagnoses, resolutions, enhancements, modifications, and maintenance instructions for networks.
  • Monitoring network traffic, activity, capacity, and usage to ensure ongoing integrity and optimal network performance.
